Product Management and PMI PMP

Question: "Are there any legitimate product management certifications out there similar to the PMP certification?"

The Project Management Institute (PMI) and its Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) are the outcome of collaboration between companies, academia, and the military.

They all had a shared interest and collectively sought a uniform way of communicating and working together on joint projects. The Project Management Professional (PMP) is a high-stakes certification program that PMI offers.

There is no equivalent to PMP in product management because vendors, thought leaders, practitioners, companies, and academia do not collaborate and offer drastically different perspectives on product management.

The certification options presently available on the market to product managers range from low-stakes tests (very easy to pass and very cheap) to medium-stakes programs, such as the Blackblot's BPMP certification program which tests knowledge of the Blackblot PMTK Methodology™.
