Product Management Motto
Question: "As a profession and discipline, does product management have a motto? Is there something that product managers should always keep in mind?"
A motto is a short expression of a guiding principle. At Blackblot we believe that the nearest thing that could serve as a motto for product management are Blackblot's Product Manager's Toolkit® (PMTK) methodology's two foundation rules:
- Product management is comprised of product planning and product marketing.
- Product management resides solely in the problem space.
The two PMTK foundation rules are the guiding principles of product management.
With market-driven product management, product managers should always keep in mind that they need to focus on fully understanding the needs of the market and the customer without any reference whatsoever to the product or technology.
